TEC 322 Gets An Overhaul

Could this possibly be the control laboratory? Something seems to be missing. Oh, yea, there it is, on the right, or at least part of it. We used these benches in the old control lab for a long time and many people sleep, uh, worked on their surfaces. We say goodbye as the room gets an overhaul, in furniture, equipment, and function.

New computers! Removing the old benches made room for new work stations to support our faster processing needs, e.g. Protel design projects, Altera logic design, PSpice. As you can see the hardware and software installation has already started. It should be completed by the end of the month. New Printer! Remember all the problems we had with the printer in TEC 321? The new printer will make 11x17 inch printouts a breeze and will accommodate transparencies for printed circuit board creation. The printer produces toner-based prints which are more appropriate than ink masters for wet-room work.

In addition, TEC 322 is now the home of our microwave and communication experimentation. The new analyzers have already been used in a special course, EET 450, and we have two graduate students interested in pursuing wireless communications which includes wireless digital and cellular telephone communications. It could become a focus for EET if interest continues to grow.

The control activity has moved across the hall to what was the communication's lab, TEC 324. As you can tell from the pictures we are just starting re-installation. Professor Buchanan is the new control theory/application guru and will be overseeing future developments in this area.
